Even though there is ice and snow falling from the sky in most parts of the country right now, January is a hopping time for beach rental companies. Many of them don’t post their rates until January for 2011. The most popular weeks will be grabbed up quickly if they haven’t already from previous reservations. This can usually be done at the end of your last vacation and you don’t have to wait for new rates for the next year to come out. You can book your house automatically with many rental companies for the same time the next year. We have our rental, so I’m happy!
My Mom explained to me how we usually need two hotel rooms when we go to the beach, but at $300 a night for each room (we have a large family), we might as well get a beach house with a private pool, hot tub and full kitchen. She said that we would normally pay $600 a night for both hotel rooms, so that’s $4200 for a week, Wow! We usually go the last week or two before in season rates start or at the end of the season, first week out, which means lower rates. And it costs us around $2,000 for the week with all taxes and insurance. We actually save a ton of money staying in a glorious beach house and often we invite our friends, too! We have that much room. I’m dreaming of summer and the Outer Banks, already! But if you know me, that’s not all too uncommon.
We also save a lot of money by having a kitchen to cook in rather than eating at a hotel restaurant (or local restaurant) every day for every meal.
If you have a smaller family, they have condos and townhouses that are even less, so don’t think you need to get a large house if you don’t need it. My mom said the first year we went we squeezed into a 3 bedroom condo for $800 a week. So you see there are so many options.
If you haven’t gotten your Outer Banks Beach Rental, yet, we have a list of companies that can help you locate one, here. See you at the beach in OBX!
